Background
The HackUMass website redesign sought to refresh its visual identity by combining modern design elements with the same energy of HackUMass XII. My role in this project focused on creating custom illustrations of UMass Amherst's most iconic campus buildings.

Laying the Foundations
To ensure a meaningful connection between the website and its audience, I began by studying the architectural details of UMass Amherst’s campus. Iconic buildings were selected based on their significance and familiarity to the university community. These illustrations were designed not only to capture the campus's essence but also to embody the creative and collaborative energy of HackUMass.

Visual Identity
The illustration style was modern and clean, characterized by minimalistic designs and bold lines. Using Adobe Illustrator, I incorporated subtle gear motifs within the illustrations to subtly allude to themes of technology and innovation without detracting from the architectural focus. These elements were strategically designed to blend seamlessly with the website’s overall aesthetic.
Layout and Integration
The placement of the illustrations played a crucial role in enhancing the website’s visual narrative. I experimented with layouts across various sections of the website, aiming for a balance between aesthetic appeal and functionality. The final design achieved a cohesive flow, using the illustrations to guide users naturally through the site while keeping the focus on the content.
